Our Story

Ecclesiastes 3:14 was the scripture verse that God gave Pastor Brian when he struggled to answer the call to plant SPC. He told God…”I can’t do it.” “I’m just a student pastor.” “I’m not a good enough leader.” ” and “I don’t have an education.” Then God spoke through His word, “I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of Him.” Pastor Brian realized that indeed he could not do it but God could! That passage says “… all God does will last forever and that God works so that people will be in awe of Him!” And so the journey began.

On the second Sunday in September 2004 SPC launched its first public worship service with 10 people in the Pomona Park Community Center in Pomona Park, FL. SPC quickly out grew the facility, even to the point of having to utilize the kitchen for a children’s classroom and front porch for a student classroom. On Easter Sunday of 2005 SPC moved into the Putnam County Family YMCA in Crescent City, FL and began to expand its ministry to the South Putnam Region of the county. Meeting in the YMCA was very beneficial to the overall ministry of the church because of the facilities and worship space that was needed to grow.

While meeting at the YMCA, SPC saw many children, students and adults come to know Jesus Christ in a personal way through faith. In 2007 God provided $50,000 to purchase 6.5 acres adjacent to the facility and SPC began making plans to build phase one of a multipurpose facility that we would later call home. SPC broke ground for its new facility the week before Christmas 2009 and celebrated its first public worship service in the new facility on Easter Sunday 2010.  During the next six year of ministry at this facility on Amos Rd., God has tremendously blessed SPC by allowing us to expand our facility and impact in our community.  Truly a multipurpose facility, Amos rd has functioned as a worship facility, food pantry, medical clinic, youth center, and gathering place for many other ministry teams and huddle groups each week.  We have since purchased and repurposed a home in downtown Crescent City which currently hosts our free medical clinic.

In August of this year, SPC closed on the purchase of the old YMCA facility in which we once held our worship services.  We are currently in the process of remodeling this facility and have already began utilizing it for our Wednesday night youth ministry, SPC Connect.  We are constantly amazed by the way God has moved in the life of our church and expectantly pray that God will use this new facility to reach the South Putnam community like never before.

We (SPC) take no credit for this success story. This is not our church, it belongs to God! We simply have a desire to see those who are far from God begin to take steps that ultimately lead them into His powerful presence. And the journey continues…
